About

STL Upstanders Anti-Bullying Collaborative is a group of parents united against bullying and dedicated to working together to increase anti-bullying education and awareness and offer improvements to bullying policies and processes so that every student feels safe.

“Is anyone interested in meeting with our school district’s Discipline Committee to discuss ‘pro-active anti-bullying’ student and parent education?”

That simple question posted on Facebook by Concord parent Robert Vogel, rapidly received many responses from parents throughout the district.  Erica Hoffman was one of the first to respond and soon a meeting was being organized and a private Facebook group was created. Clearly this was an issue that parents felt strongly about and were struggling with.

As of February 2019 we have over 750 members in our Facebook group sharing stories, ideas, and inspiration. We have several meetings over the past year and are working on organizing more. Our group has been featured on KSDK’s Today in St. Louis morning show, KTRS 550 AM and the South County Times Newspaper .

To date our collaborative includes:

  • Parents, including PTO officers and members
  • District educators and counselors
  • Board of Education members
  • Local law enforcement
  • Local politicians
  • Anti-bullying educators and consultants

We are working towards having student involvement as well.

We are grateful to district leadership for the support and interest they have shown and are looking forward for continued discussions and collaboration on solutions to help everyone navigate this issue better and again, make sure every student feels safe.
